Roofing Professional
We are seeking a skilled Roofing Professional to join our team in the Connacht region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with roof installation, repair, and maintenance for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing new roofs on various building types, from residential homes to commercial properties, while ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
A key aspect of this role is identifying and fixing damaged or leaking roofs, replacing rotten joists or plywood, and applying caulk or roofing cement to prevent leaks.
The Roofing Professional will work closely with the construction team to ensure seamless execution of roofing projects, adhering to tight deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality.
Responsibilities:
* Installation: Construct new roofs on various building types, including residential homes and commercial properties.
* Repair and Maintenance: Identify and fix damaged or leaking roofs, replace rotten joists or plywood, and apply caulk or roofing cement to prevent leaks.
* Material Management: Measure roof areas, calculate the quantities of shingles, tiles, metal, or other materials needed, and prepare them for installation.
* Worksite Setup: Set up and dismantle scaffolding and other equipment safely and efficiently.
* Health and Safety: Comply with all health and safety regulations, a critical aspect of working at heights and with heavy materials.
* Waterproofing: Install insulation, vapor barriers, and waterproof membranes to prevent water from damaging the building's interior.
Required Skills:
* Physical Stamina: Ability to work for extended periods at heights, lift heavy materials, and maintain balance on uneven surfaces.
* Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hand tools like hammers, knives, and measuring tapes, and a general ability to perform intricate tasks.
* Problem-Solving: Capacity to quickly assess roof issues and devise effective solutions, especially in unpredictable weather conditions.
* Material Knowledge: Familiarity with various roofing materials such as shingles, tiles, slate, metal sheeting, and insulation.
* Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team.
* Attention to Detail: Ensuring all materials are properly aligned and fit, and all joints are sealed to create a weatherproof roof.
