Vision Ireland is the national sight loss agency, a not-for-profit charitable organisation providing support and services nationwide to people experiencing sight loss. We offer emotional support, counselling, employment support, and rehabilitation training to enhance accessibility and independence for those with sight loss.
Our mission is to enable people who are blind and vision impaired to overcome barriers to independence and societal participation. We have over 130 stores, 385 employees, and 1,500 volunteers and scheme staff.
We are expanding our team and seek a dedicated Head of Compliance, Risk, and Governance to lead the development and improvement of our governance arrangements, risk management, and compliance efforts. This role involves working closely with senior leadership, supporting governance and audit committees, and managing GDPR and data protection responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and implementation of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks.
Ensure compliance with statutory governance requirements and CRA guidance.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, transparency, and prudent risk management.
Manage compliance and regulatory issues, including GDPR and data protection.
Develop and monitor governance, risk, and compliance strategic objectives and KPIs.
Develop risk management policies and oversee the Corporate Risk Register.
Foster continuous improvement and a culture of good governance.
Coordinate incident reporting, feedback, and disclosures.
Manage health and safety functions and reassess operational risks regularly.
Collaborate with the wider senior leadership team and contribute to organizational development.
Qualifications / Key Requirements
At least 5 years of post-qualification senior management experience.
Degree level 8 qualification on the National Framework.
Qualifications in quality management, regulation, or governance.
Experience in risk management and implementing mitigation systems.
Proven leadership in managing change, fostering continuous improvement, and developing teams.
Excellent communication skills and stakeholder relationship management.
Knowledge of statutory and regulatory frameworks, including CRA.
Desirable
Project Management certification.
Understanding of the Irish public sector governance.
