We’re seeking an experienced Principal Transportation Engineer to lead and deliver high-quality transport infrastructure projects across Ireland. This is a permanent position offering flexibility on location and working arrangements in the Dublin area.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and delivery of complex road, public transport, and active travel projects from concept through construction.Manage multidisciplinary teams to deliver cost-effective and sustainable transport solutions.Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and contract documentation in line with current Irish design standards (TII Publications, DMURS, Cycle Design Manual, etc.).Provide technical guidance, review work, and mentor junior engineers.Liaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities to ensure technical, commercial, and programme requirements are met.Oversee quality assurance, safety in design, and compliance across all project stages.Contribute to project bids, fee proposals, and technical reports.RequirementsLevel 8 degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.7–12 years of relevant experience in transport design and delivery. Irish experience is essential.Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body.Proven experience managing design teams and delivering road, rail, or public realm schemes.Strong understanding of Irish transport design standards and construction documentation.Excellent technical writing, communication, and organisational skills.Experience using design software such as OpenRoads, Civil 3D, or MX is an advantage.Knowledge of traffic modelling tools (Linsig, Junctions 11, Saturn, VISSIM) beneficial.Full driving licence required.This is a key leadership role in a growing transportation team working on nationally significant infrastructure.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and ConsultingCivil Engineering and Engineering Services
