Job SummaryAs an Entry-Level Software Engineer, you will join an Agile development team working on internet-connected (IoT) lighting and sensing systems. In this role, you will support the design, development, testing, and deployment of software used in cloud, mobile, and web applications.You will work on a variety of projects, including front-end and back-end development, while collaborating closely with product managers, architects, QA engineers, and other developers. This position is ideal for someone eager to learn, grow technical skills, and contribute to customer-focused software solutions that improve how people experience lighting technology.Key Tasks & ResponsibilitiesAssist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software features that connect cloud, mobile, and IoT componentsWrite clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following team standardsParticipate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectivesCollaborate with team members to understand requirements and implement solutions that meet both technical and business needsContribute to front-end and/or back-end development under the guidance of more experienced engineersParticipate in peer code reviews and learn best practices from feedbackHelp identify and fix bugs and performance issuesSupport automated testing efforts and learn test-driven and quality-focused development practicesFollow Agile and Scrum principles, adapting to changing requirements and prioritiesUse version control and development tools consistently to support team collaborationRequired Skills & Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience)0–2 year of experience with software development (including internships, co-ops, or academic projects)Basic experience with JavaScript and React for front-end developmentWorking knowledge of one or more programming languages such as C#, C++, JavaScript, HTML, or PythonFamiliarity with software development tools such as Git, SQL, and basic debugging techniquesUnderstanding of fundamental software engineering concepts and best practicesStrong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologiesGood written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Skills & ExperienceMaster's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or a related fieldExposure to Agile or Scrum development environmentsExperience with some of the following tools or technologies through coursework or projects:.NET / C#Azure or other cloud platformsSelenium, Xunit, or NunitReact or similar front-end frameworksBasic understanding of back-end development concepts and APIsFamiliarity with SQL and relational databasesExposure to Test-Driven Development (TDD) conceptsInterest in IoT, cloud-based systems, or hardware-software integration
