We are currently seeking to recruit a Psychologist to join our team. Candidates, including recent graduates, with an interest in gaining experience and developing expertise in neuropsychological rehabilitation are invited to apply. Benefits of joining the Headway Psychology team include: - Flexible working hours (35-hour week) - Work from home option 1 day per week - Regular supervision - CPD opportunities - Research opportunities - Commitment to staff well-being and development Job Title: Psychologist (Staff Grade) Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week) Based: Blackhall Place,Dublin 7 Role Summary: To contribute to the provision of specialist clinical neuropsychology rehabilitation service in Headway to individuals with acquired brain injury. To develop expertise in neuropsychological rehabilitation. Member of the Rehabilitation Team, working closely with staff to achieve and maintain high standards in the delivery and development of innovative, individually tailored rehabilitative interventions for ABI clients. Needs assessment of individuals with acquired brain injury, in line with Headway policy and procedure. Active participation in research and promotion of evidence-based practice. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Professional / Clinical The Psychologist will: Be responsible for the delivery of professional psychology services appropriate to the post in line with best practice Carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the post. Accept referrals of persons with acquired brain injury for specialist cognitive, emotional, behavioural and vocational assessment. Conduct service needs assessment of individuals with ABI, in line with Headway policy and procedure. Provide psychological assessments of the client group based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, direct and indirect observation and interviews with clients, family members and/or carers. Accept referrals of persons with acquired brain injury for specialist cognitive, emotional and behavioural therapies, including family and group interventions. Formulate and implement plans for psychological therapeutic intervention or management based on an appropriate conceptual framework. Provide professional reports as required in accordance with professional standards. Work within limits of professional competence in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governance. Contribute to the development of services to promote the psychological well-being of persons with acquired brain injury and their families. Be aware of and refer the client to other services as necessary. Work in an ethical and professional manner at all times. Facilitate the work of colleagues in other disciplines and contribute to the advice and support provided for families, employers and community workers. Attend Rehabilitation meetings, Psychology / peer supervision meetings, case conferences, organisational meetings, other external meetings as required. Promote a culture that values equality, diversity and respect in the workplace. Research & Evaluation The Psychologist will: Contribute to service development and auditing, including development of effective and timely services that meet the needs of clients, and conducting ongoing evaluations of effectiveness and outcomes of services. Actively promote best practice in rehabilitation by engaging in and keeping abreast with clinical research in the area of acquired brain injury. Utilise evidence-based literature and research to support effective practice. Undertake appropriate research and provide research advice as appropriate. Publish research outcomes in professionally recognised journals and share information on outcomes at professional conferences where appropriate. Contribute to developments and innovative practice in psychology in Headway. Education & Training The Psychologist will: Participate in continuous professional development initiatives and ensure compliance with statutory registration requirements. Attend training courses as informed by service requirements and career and personal development planning. Engage in and utilise clinical supervision effectively. Be informed of advances in professional knowledge and practice. Contribute to ongoing development and provision of internal Headway staff training modules. Administration and Policy The Psychologist will: Follow the policies of Headway on service, administrative and employment matters. Comply the Headway health and safety policies and procedures and all insurance requirements. Maintain appropriate client records, databases and statistics in accordance with Headway requirements and local guidelines, Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Acts and other relevant legislation. Maintain professional standards with regard to client and data confidentiality. Actively participate in development and continuing improvement initiatives of rehabilitation and psychological services in liaison with Manager / Senior Psychologist. Participate in ongoing development reviews with Manager in line with Headways Performance Management Guide and policies. Relevant qualifications for the post: A university degree obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject And A recognised professional doctoral qualification in clinical/counselling psychology Or An equivalent non-Irish qualification validated by the Department of Health Skills, Competencies and/or Knowledge: Experience in neuropsychological rehabilitation and/or interest in developing expertise in neuropsychological rehabilitation. Experience of applying evidence-based practice. Sufficient professional / clinical knowledge and experience to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role. Ability to apply knowledge to best practice. Competence in delivering a professional service. Commitment to providing a quality service. Ability to plan and deliver care in an effective and resourceful manner within a model of person-centred care. Ability to utilise supervision effectively. Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate with colleagues, families etc. Awareness and appreciation of the client and the ability to empathise with and treat others with dignity and respect. Effective team skills, flexibility and openness to change. Flexible, with ability to multitask in busy team environment.
