OverviewResponsible for obtaining and computing data relevant to measuring the Earth's features.
This position will develop an understanding of the construction layout, conduct topographic analysis, and capture static measurements using best practices and standard operating procedures.
The Survey Tech will be responsible for comprehension of various GNSS correction methods, equipment configurations, and equipment maintenance.
ResponsibilitiesCollect field data using sophisticated measuring equipmentCollaborate with project team to understand construction sequenceApply the use of GPS equipment to set lath for construction, this included center and offsets while having the ability to field fit miscellaneous itemsOperate survey instruments to capture static measurements for a variety of disciplines with verified horizontal and vertical residuals from client provided benchmarksPerform calculations to determine accurate elevations, distances, and angles for various construction projects.Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawing, sketches, etc.Verify horizontal and vertical residuals daily using client provided benchmarksSearch for section corners, property states and survey pointPosition and hold the vertical rods or targets used for sighting to measure angles, distances, elevations, etc.Maintain and troubleshoot all GPS equipment as directed by Survey Equipment teamEnsure equipment and tools are clean, properly powered down, and stored at the end of the business daySafely operate field tools and supplies to minimize the risk of injury and property damageFoster effective communication between surveying teams, engineering teams, and project managementCollaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate survey data into project plansProvide regular updates on surveying progress, challenges, and solutions to site and office managementWork independently and as an active member of the teamOther duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and Work Experience Requirements: Associates or Bachelor's degree in surveying, remote sensing, drafting, engineering, or related technical field preferredOne year of survey experience in construction or operations with exposure to engineering, civil, or renewable energy activitiesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principlesEffective verbal and written communicationComputer literacy and well-developed file managementPreferred comprehension of ALTA Surveys, and various schematicsPreferred understanding of surveying software e.g.
Trimble Business Center, MAGNET Office, or Civil 3DAbility to problem solveRead and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsCommon sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral formAbility to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
