The Role SEABRIDGE is looking for an experienced Transport Manager to join the team.
You will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the transportation of goods for both Import and Export shipments while also being involved in the day-to-day running of landside operations.
This role demands a keen understanding of logistics, shipping regulations, carrier relationships, and transport planning to ensure efficient and cost-effective deliveries.
The ideal candidate will have a blend of freight forwarding expertise and transport planning capabilities.
Responsibilities: Coordinate and arrange deliveries with customers and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with customs regulations and documentation requirements.
Negotiate rates with carriers and other logistics service providers.
Track shipments and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
Handle claims for damaged or lost goods and ensure timely resolution.
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely pickup and delivery of goods.
Analyse transport data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
Collaborate with warehousing teams to optimize inventory levels and distribution strategies.
Be primary point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues related to shipments.
Provide accurate and timely information to customers regarding shipment status, delays, or other relevant updates.
Ensure all shipping and transport activities comply with local, national, and international regulations.
Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs forms, and invoices.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics partners.
Collaborate with vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts, rates, and service levels.
IT Development/System Improvement.
Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years experience in freight forwarding and transport planning.
Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
Proficient in logistics software and tools, such as TMS (Transport Management System) and ERP systems.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet tight deadlines.
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Familiarity with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in logistics and transportation.
Preferred Skills: Experience working with a diverse range of transportation modes (air, sea, road, rail).
Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade compliance.
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
Experience in dealing with drivers and haulage sub-contractors.
