We are currently recruiting a Staff Nurse – Surgical Day Unit for a leading hospital in Dublin, Ireland .
Responsibilities Deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred nursing care to assigned patients, assuming full accountability for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, formulate nursing diagnoses, develop and implement individualised care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes in line with best practice and hospital policy.
Monitor, document, and respond appropriately to changes in patients' physical, psychological, and clinical status, escalating concerns to the relevant nursing or medical team.
Safely administer medications and treatments, execute medical orders, and perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures in accordance with organisational and professional standards.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with data protection, documentation, and NMBI Code of Professional Conduct.
Apply specialist clinical skills, including aseptic technique, infection prevention and control measures, and perioperative duties such as scrubbing and circulating where applicable.
Promote patient safety, dignity, and informed consent, providing education and health promotion to patients and families and assessing understanding and compliance.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, risk management, and accreditation processes to enhance patient care and service delivery.
Support education, induction, supervision, and mentorship of new staff and colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Demonstrate effective leadership, communication, and time-management skills, working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and deputising for the Nurse Manager when required.
Requirements Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active registration in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
A minimum of two years' acute nursing experience.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Evidence of motivation, initiative, and an innovative approach to clinical practice.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Demonstrated understanding of change management and the ability to adapt to evolving clinical environments.
