As a Senior Electrical Engineer specialising in HV cable design, you'll work on a diverse range of projects including HVDC interconnectors, offshore and onshore wind, substations, and grid connection initiatives aligned with EirGrid's network development.
Key Responsibilities
Support and lead design activities across all project phases—from feasibility and FEED through to detailed design and delivery—ensuring high‑quality, efficient, and innovative engineering solutions.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including key clients such as EirGrid, to address complex technical challenges.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of a supportive and forward‑looking engineering culture.
Apply international standards for utility clients throughout the design of transmission and distribution systems.
Coordinate effectively across disciplines to resolve design issues and deliver practical, innovative solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution.
Experience in civil substation engineering and broad awareness of HV civil engineering projects.
Hands‑on experience in the design of transmission and distribution systems across all stages (Concept, FEED, and Detail Design).
Proficiency with CYMCAP software for cable sizing calculations to international standards.
Strong computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and design tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
Adaptability and ability to manage challenging workloads under changing priorities.
