Communications Co-ordinator

Reporting to: The Head of Fundraising and Communications

Objective: To deliver integrated communications campaigns which build awareness and support of MQI's work with the public and which deepen understanding of the realities of homelessness and addiction in Ireland.

Location: Based in MQI HQ 24 Merchant's Court, Merchants Quay, Dublin 8

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: €56,800-63,202

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative communications professional, with a strong digital background, to shape and deliver awareness and fundraising campaigns for MQI, promoting our low-threshold homeless services, garnering support for our addiction and recovery services, as well as reducing stigma for those in addiction.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with the most pressing social issues faced by those most vulnerable in Irish society. This role will be critical to ensuring continued support for these life-saving services such as Ireland's first Medically Supervised Injection Facility (MSIF) and Jane's Place, a low threshold service for women with complex needs.

The role will elevate all existing fundraising communications through careful management of social media, the MQI website, PR and ambassador engagement.

The successful candidate will have an impressive track record in delivering impactful communication campaigns, as well as have excellent writing skills, be a confident communicator and an organised self-starter.

The role is broad and will require you to be strategic, collaborative, and flexible with the ability to work under your own initiative.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Working with the Head of Fundraising and Communications, developing and implementing a communications strategy in line with the organisational goals of MQI.

* Managing PR campaigns end to end in collaboration with internal and externalstakeholders.

* Leading the development and implementation of all communications plans and campaign activity including Recovery Month and the launch of MQI's annual review.

* Working collaboratively with the Fundraising Coordinators to drive fundraising income and ensure consistent tone of voice across all platforms and communications.

* Developing content for service information brochures, reports, articles for the public and clients.

* Develop original and engaging content which meets fundraising and communications requirements. Identifying and collecting client and staff stories from around the organisation and bringing them to life across blogs, podcasts and video.

* Develop and implement MQI's website and social media strategy. Work to identify and recruit social advocates to raise awareness of the work of MQI.

* Ensure compliance with data protection, maintaining confidentiality and following MQI policies and procedures at all times. Ensure all necessary communications policies and procedures are in place.

* Ensure effective supplier management of website developers, creative teams, etc.

* Assisting in other duties, administrative support and occasional out-of-hours work at weekends at various events as necessary to provide effective support when required.

The ideal candidate will have

o 3rd level Qualification, QQI Level 8 in related field (Communications, Marketing, PR)

o 3-5 years of communications experience in developing and executing highly effective campaigns across multiple channels and mediums.

o Not for profit experience desirable.

o Highly developed project management skills and the ability to lead and priorities multiple projects and cross-functional teams.

o Proven ability to translate organisational messages and objectives into compelling content.

o An ability to track campaign progress against KPIs, seeking opportunities to optimize, and provide insight and analysis to enhance future campaigns.

o Excellent proof-reading, web mastering, image and editing skills required.

o Strong organisational skills with proven track record of project management excellence.

o Ability to work independently to general guidelines, capacity to take initiative and seize opportunities.

o Experience managing social media.

o Knowledge of Adobe suite or comparable editing software for photography, video editing skills and graphic design desirable.

o Solid understanding of content management systems, SEO software, Google analytics required and website maintenance (WordPress) desirable.

o Flexible can-do attitude and good team player – this role involves working very closely and collaboratively with colleagues within other departments and services.
