Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role based in Cork, Ireland, with the flexibility to work remotely for part of the time. As an Agtech R&D Engineer, your responsibilities will include conducting in-depth research and development activities on electrochemical based pH sensing, performing product testing, designing innovative agricultural technology solutions, and contributing to product development efforts. You will be closely involved in creating, evaluating, and improving solutions for livestock monitoring and health management. Collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders will also be an integral part of your role.
The successful applicant will be able to quickly understand the business strategy and objectives and act as a link between the business stakeholders and developers. It will be necessary to successfully handle multiple tasks, projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
SKILLS REQUIRED
PhD in Chemistry, Engineering or related Scientific Discipline
Background or interest in farming, and are enthusiastic about applying modern technologies to make farming more sustainable
Relevant research experience in experimental electrochemical sensors research, with a proven track record of publications in leading journals
In-depth knowledge of silicon chip based electrochemical pH sensing
Strong skills in Research and Development (R&D), including designing and optimizing technology solutions for agricultural applications
Proficiency in conducting Research and performing Testing to ensure the reliability and efficiency of products
Experience in Product Development and bringing innovative solutions to market
Exceptional Analytical Skills to evaluate data and identify trends or patterns
Familiarity with IoT platforms and agricultural technology is a plus
Motivated self-starter who can work in a team environment
Be able to plan and track activities/tasks
Ability to work to schedule
Ability to multi-task
Be willing to travel if required to support project objectives
JOB SPECIFICATION
To take responsibility and conduct research to develop and refine existing products
Design, build, and test electrochemical based pH prototypes using silicon chip-based technologies
Analyze data to optimize product design and performance
Document research findings, test results, and technical reports
Support development and product testing during the build and test phases
Provide technical support around electrochemical sensors to other departments as needed
Stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies
Conduct market research on existing products
Identify new opportunities for silicon chip-based technology for use on Bolus products
Collaborate with other teams to bring products from concept to commercialization.
Support other aspects of the business operation
