Press & Publicity Officer – Media Organisation
Our client, a leading media organisation, is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for a Press & Publicity Officer role.
Key Responsibilities
* Reporting to the Communications Manager, the successful candidate will:
* Position, promote, and publicise the organisation’s brand, programmes, content, and services in line with communications objectives, collaborating closely with marketing, creative, and social teams.
* Develop and deliver communications activities for priority programmes including press releases, social media campaigns, press conferences, launch events, photo calls, interviews, EPKs, shot lists, production notes, and Q&As.
* Provide weekly input of information and images into the organisation’s press web, outlining the full range of programming including billings, highlights, and promotional materials.
* Identify and implement strategies to effectively reach target audiences across a variety of genres such as factual, entertainment, drama, arts, youth, and sport.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts.
* Liaise with senior management, production teams, on‑screen talent, marketing, legal, commercial, and scheduling departments to ensure smooth information flow internally and externally.
* Respond to and manage media queries on content quickly, accurately, and comprehensively.
Requirements
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Dynamic and adaptable, with the ability to manage a busy and varied workload while handling urgent media queries.
* Strong organisational skills with proven ability to prioritise and manage time and resources.
* Diplomatic and discreet in handling sensitive material and relationships.
* Solid understanding of the organisation’s services, content, and audiences, with the ability to position stories for optimal media coverage.
* Awareness of the dual nature of a national broadcaster: balancing public service responsibilities with commercial objectives.
* Strong editorial judgement with the ability to identify and shape stories for the media.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
