Site Engineer We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our client on a large-scale residential development comprising houses, duplexes, and apartments on Dublin Road, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. This significant project involves the construction of residential units along with associated roads and services. As Site Engineer, you will provide essential technical and supervisory support, carrying out setting out, levelling, and quality checks while assisting the Site Manager in the day-to-day running of the site. This role offers hands-on involvement in all aspects of site engineering on a major residential scheme, with opportunities to develop skills in supervision, materials management, and compliance. Duties: Carrying out accurate setting out for foundations, rising walls, drainage, kerbs, columns, beams, and walls; Setting levels, supervising groundworks, and overseeing works by block layers, steel-fixers, shuttering carpenters, and concrete pours; Taking levels, surveying ongoing works, and maintaining detailed records of subcontractor activities; Assisting in materials management, liaising with the Site Manager and Purchasing to ensure timely delivery of correct specifications and minimising wastage; Liaising with Irish Water Field Engineers, managing the Irish Water QA folder, and producing as-built drawings; Assisting in the supervision and monitoring of site operatives (direct and subcontractors); Supporting the management and coordination of quality control and building control plans; Contributing to health & safety through operative inductions, H&S audits, and ensuring compliance with PPE and safety obligations; Providing general administrative support and document control. Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications: Degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related field; Proven experience as a Site Engineer on residential projects (preferably in Ireland); Strong setting out and surveying skills with experience in groundworks, drainage, and structural elements; Excellent technical knowledge of construction processes for houses, duplexes, and apartments; Good organisational and record-keeping abilities; Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaison with site team, subcontractors, and external stakeholders (e.g., Irish Water); Commitment to health & safety, quality control, and materials efficiency; Ability to work effectively as part of a site management team.
