Exam Venue Coordinator: Unijobs are currently expanding the panel of Exam Venue Coordinators (Senior Invigilators) for the University of Limerick. Exam invigilation is a seasonal position, occurring over three fortnightly periods per year (December/May/August). Exam Venue Coordinators may be required from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. throughout the exam period. The rate of pay for this role is currently €25.41 per hour. About the role: We are looking for individuals to join our team and contribute to the smooth and fair administration of our examinations. As the Exam Venue Coordinator you will have sole responsibility for managing the exam centres and will play a crucial role in upholding the integrity of our exams. This position requires reliable, flexible individuals with good leadership skills and a can-do attitude who are willing to accept a level of responsibility for the running of an exam centre. Previous experience as an invigilator (previously known as exam venue coordinator) with an Irish educational institution is a prerequisite for this role. Exam Venue Coordinators must problem solve quickly and exercise their judgment knowing when issues require escalation to the central exams office. Meticulous attention to detail as well as excellent punctuality are important qualities required. Successful applicants are added to a current invigilation panel available for end of term and term-time assessments only. They may be assigned to any of the invigilation roles available in the University (Invigilator, Assistant Exam Venue Coordinator or Exam Venue Coordinator) and this will be dependent on the needs of the exam centres. The assignment will be specified when the invigilation schedules are released a number of weeks in advance of each exam sitting. Applying for invigilation work does not guarantee that you will be successful. Invigilation slots are limited, and priority will be given to those that commit to working the three exam sessions and full days in the relevant exam weeks. Not all applicants will be allocated work. Candidates that are deemed suitable will be required to attend an interview and complete garda vetting. Remunerated Invigilation training sessions will be held ahead of the exam sessions in person and is mandatory to attend. The Exams Team will circulate dates of the training sessions to everyone who is successful in their application for invigilation work. Failure to attend for training will result in no exam sessions being assigned. Responsibilities: Ensure the smooth running of all exams in their assigned venue in line with examination regulations and procedures, including dealing with queries and issues which arise. Co-ordinate the work of all junior and post-graduate exam invigilators in the assigned examination venue, including the supervision and monitoring of work performance and progress. Notify central exams office of staffing issues arising within the centre. Complete all necessary examination paperwork fully and accurately in line with University regulations and procedures. Referral of any queries/issues which arise, and which cannot be dealt with in the exam venue, to the Central Examinations Office for resolution in a timely manner. Dealing with students and staff in a sensitive and compassionate manner and in full compliance with the dignity and respect policy. Ensure exam invigilators fully understand their role in relation to all assigned duties, including the breach of assessment regulations process. Attend hearings related to the breach of assessment regulations process. Ensure students are allocated an exam space and receive clear instructions on fire/hazards/ exam protocol Ensure examinations commence, continue and conclude in an orderly and timely manner. Ensure students have a positive exam experience and deal with deviations from exam procedures/regulations in a professional manner in line with exam regulations. Supervise students departing examination venues, ensuring that equipment or stationery is not removed from the venue without authorisation and ensuring that students vacate the venue in an orderly and quiet manner. Collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in strict accordance with procedures Assisting with any situation which may arise in the exam hall, e.g. a student becomes ill or in the event of an exam hall evacuation. Observe students vigilantly during examinations by moving through the venue to ensure that they comply with regulations and report any queries or issues by completing relevant report in advance of submission to central exams office. Undertake all tasks as needed to ensure that examinations are conducted in a fair and appropriate manner, ensuring compliance with University regulations and guidelines. The role of the exam venue coordinator is physically demanding and requires standing/walking for extended periods of time to supervise the exam centres. Overseeing any situation which may arise in the exam hall, e.g. a student becomes ill or in the event of an exam hall evacuation.
