College Group was founded in 1989 and currently operates from three state-of-the-art sites; Nobber in County Meath, Monnery in County Cavan, and in Newry in County Down. We have just built a new state of the art AD plant in Nobber with the most advanced technology, which is one of Irelands largest Anaerobic Digestion plants.The RoleWe are seeking a skilled and experienced HGV/Artic Mechanic to join our workshop team. This is a critical role that requires strong technical skills in not only mechanical systems but also modern vehicle electronics and diagnostics. You will be responsible for ensuring our fleet remains safe, roadworthy, and compliant with all RSA standards.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct preventative maintenance inspections (PMI), servicing, and structural repairs on a varied fleet of HGVs, Artic trailers, and potentially other plant machinery.Perform advanced diagnostic tests and fault-finding using up-to-date diagnostic software and computer systems.Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults at a component level.Ensure all work is completed to the highest standard of safety and compliance, maintaining accurate service and repair records.Attend breakdowns and accident vehicles as required (on a rota basis).Perform incidental welding or fabrication work if necessary.Skills & QualificationsQualified Mechanic: Fully qualified HGV Mechanic with a National Craft Certificate or equivalent industry-recognised qualification.Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of post-apprenticeship experience in HGV/commercial vehicle maintenance.Diagnostic Ability: Proven experience with modern vehicle electronics, diagnostic tools, and the ability to interpret complex technical diagrams and data.Licence: A full, clean driving licence is essential. An HGV (Category C or C+E) licence is a distinct advantage but not mandatory.Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to tracing and rectifying faults.Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
