Role Overview
The Practice Supervisor plays a key role in developing and maintaining the clinical, professional, and practical standards of Health and Social Care Assistants within Bluebird Care. This role focuses on supervision, support, quality assurance, and best practice delivery, while also providing operational and administrative support to the wider team.
The Practice Supervisor does not hold formal line management responsibility and will elevate all employee relations or performance issues to the Clinical Lead or Office Manager .
Key Responsibilities
Provide scheduled and unannounced practice supervision visits across a variety of care settingsSupervise and support care assistants to ensure high standards of care deliveryMonitor, assess, and provide feedback on care assistant performance and practiceMaintain accurate supervision records, reports, and documentationEscalate any performance, behavioural, quality, or operational concerns to the Clinical Lead promptlyParticipate in care delivery as part of the supervision process and, in exceptional circumstances, provide direct care when requiredSupport the Clinical Lead with care plan assessments and care plan reviewsMonitor staff training, compliance, and continued professional development (CPD)Ensure all policies, procedures, safeguarding requirements, GDPR, and health & safety standards are adhered toLiaise professionally with customers, family members, care coordinators, healthcare professionals, and statutory servicesAct as a customer advocate and safeguard the interests of customers at all timesAssist with audits and ensure compliance across customer and staff filesPrepare reports as requiredParticipate in the on-call Bluebird Care emergency phone rota
Operational & Administrative Support
Act as backup to the Care Coordinator, with familiarity in staff rosteringAssist with office administration duties as requiredSupport the recruitment process, including onboarding and compliance checks
Qualifications
QQI Level 6 Supervisory Management (Essential or willingness to complete)Computer literacy and administrative skills (Desirable)Risk assessment knowledge (Desirable)
Experience
Minimum of two years' experience in the care sector (Desirable)
