Key Responsibilities The Grade IV Officer will support the efficient night time operation of the Emergency Department by delivering high quality administrative services.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Reception & Patient Registration Provide a high standard of customer service to patients, relatives, and staff at ED reception during night duty.
Interview and register patients at reception and within the treatment area.
Accurately input and update patient demographic and clinical information on relevant ICT systems.
Ensure all stages of the patient journey are captured electronically.
Patient Records & Documentation Manage the patient healthcare record from ED arrival through to admission or discharge.
Prepare, scan, validate, and index ED healthcare records in accordance with hospital policy.
Assist in providing patient documentation required for scheduled clinics or follow-up care.
Support compliance with the ED Visiting Policy.
Admissions, Insurance & Cross Department Liaison Process patient admissions on PAS in real time and deliver Healthcare Records to Inpatient Wards.
Conduct health insurance assessments when a decision to admit has been made and complete relevant documentation.
Liaise with Patient Accounts regarding Health Act Charge collection.
Communicate effectively with Admissions, Patient Accounts, Medical Records, and other departments as required.
Other Responsibilities Assist with admission and discharge planning e.g., arrange patient transport, prepare patient documentation, organise follow up appointments or medical certificates.
Respond to internal and external information requests in line with hospital policies.
Manage Sort, collect, and distribute departmental post.
Always maintain excellent communication and customer service standards.
Participate in Major Incident Medical Management and Support (MIMMS) exercises.
Support emergency workflows in line with hospital major incident procedures.
Contribute to ongoing service improvement within the Emergency Department.
Perform any other duties deemed appropriate to the post and contribute to the ongoing development of administrative services.
