Job Advertisement: General Manager Location: Clifden, Connemara, Ireland The Clifden Station House Hotel, nestled in the scenic beauty of Connemara, is seeking a dynamic General Manager to bring our newly refurbished property into its next chapter of excellence. The Clifden Station House is a full service hotel with 78 bedrooms, two full service restaurants and bars, a large leisure centre, 16 self-catering apartments and a theatre and museum on site This is a unique opportunity to take the helm of a landmark destination hotel and make a lasting impact. Your job will be to develop and manage a high-performing team, deliver the highest quality standards and ensure an outstanding guest experience About the Role As General Manager, you will be responsible for the full operational management of the hotel. You will champion guest satisfaction and drive financial performance. Reporting to the hotel board, you will be accountable for delivering business goals while maintaining the warm hospitality and high standards that define the Clifden Station House Hotel. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Ensure the guest experience is always of the highest standard Manage the entire food and beverage team, ensuring the highest quality experience and profit margins are delivered Manage and lead the housekeeping, maintenance, leisure centre and front desk teams Provide all operational support to ensure revenue management and sales targets are aligned Represent the hotel at marketing, sales, industry and local events Drive continuous improvement in service, efficiency, and profitability. Ensure all property management, maintenance and statutory obligations are completed Financial & Operational Oversight Deliver strong cost control, revenue growth, and profitability across all departments. Review and analyse key performance metrics, adjusting tactics to ensure success. Maintain full compliance with health, safety, licensing, and employment regulations. Team Development Lead, support, and mentor department heads and staff to ensure high engagement and performance. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and guest-centered service. Deliver recruitment, training, and development strategies to build a strong team. Serve as a visible and approachable leader, creating a welcoming environment for guests and staff alike. Who we are looking for A senior hospitality professional with leadership experience across all hospitality departments. You may already be a general manager but we are just as interested in the right character seeking to make the next step to General Manager Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to lead with integrity, warmth, and professionalism.
