About Chronic Pain Ireland
Chronic Pain Ireland (CPI) is the national charity providing information, education, and support to people living with chronic pain, their families, caregivers, and stakeholders. We advocate on their behalf and collaborate with policymakers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to improve the lives of those affected.

Role Overview
We are seeking Board Members (Directors) with strong fundraising and grant writing experience, to help deliver on our ambitious growth plans. You'll work closely with the Board and Executive Director to develop sustainable funding streams, raise the profile of CPI, and enhance benefits for our members.
General Responsibilities of All Board Members
Comply with the charity's governing document and all legal and regulatory requirements.
Ensure the charity is carrying out its purpose for public benefit.
Provide strategic direction, development, and oversight for the charity's work.
Uphold CPI's mission, vision, values, and commitment to being member-led.
Act with reasonable care, skill, and diligence, and in the best interests of the charity.
Ensure effective management of assets, resources, and risk.
Actively contribute to Board discussions and decision-making in line with the Charity Regulator's Governance Code.
Specific Responsibilities for This Role
Lead or co-lead development of a fundraising strategy that aligns with CPI's strategic plan.
Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with donors (corporate, philanthropic, grant funders).
Research, write, and submit grant proposals, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and reporting.
Work with communications/marketing to enhance the CPI brand and visibility, including digital marketing, content creation, campaigns, media, and partnerships.
Help identify and generate innovative (non-traditional) fundraising opportunities.
Assist in tracking, reporting, and evaluating fundraising efforts and outcomes.
Ideal Candidate
Proven success in non-traditional fundraising (corporate, philanthropic, partnerships) in the not-for-profit sector.
Strong grant writing track record, including securing substantial grants and managing reporting obligations.
Experience in communications and marketing, especially digital marketing, to help build brand awareness.
Strong relationship building, stakeholder engagement, and networking skills.
Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Previous board experience is a plus.
A commitment to CPI's mission, values, and member-led approach.
Commitment
Approx. 6 hours per month for Board and subcommittee meetings.
Meetings are held online, allowing participation from anywhere in Ireland.
Occasional attendance at the AGM or strategic planning sessions.
Board term: 3 years, renewable once.
