Lead Mechanical Engineer – Limerick (Heavy Industry Site) Location: Limerick Work Model: 5 days onsite Type: Permanent A long-established heavy-industry manufacturing site in Limerick is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support plant maintenance, drive project delivery, and provide day-to-day leadership within the engineering function.
This site has operated for more than 85 years in Ireland and runs large-scale process equipment, high-temperature operations, and major capital assets.
You will play a key part in maintaining plant reliability, managing contractors, and guiding engineers and technicians across a busy maintenance environment.
The organisation has several upcoming projects, offering clear scope for further progression.
What you'll do • Lead maintenance activity across a defined plant area • Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance plans • Direct contractors and guide junior engineers and technicians • Plan shutdowns and major overhauls • Troubleshoot failures and improve equipment reliability • Support and deliver large-scale plant improvement projects • Maintain and improve safety and environmental standards What you need • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering • 7–10 years' experience in mechanical engineering within Ireland • Strong background in heavy industry, utilities, cement, quarry, mining, or large-scale manufacturing • Proven experience leading people, contractors, or engineering teams • Solid understanding of reactive and preventative maintenance • Ability to plan downtimes, manage resources, and deliver projects • Confident communicator who can influence and guide others • Full right to work in Ireland (no sponsorship offered) • Residing within a commutable distance of the Limerick site • Comfortable working onsite 5 days per week Interested?
