Overview
Orange Recruitment are looking for a Health & Safety Technical Lead to join our clients Health, Safety, Quality & Environment function. Reporting to a Regional Health & Safety Manager, your role will be central in ensuring compliance with national, European, and organisational health, safety, quality, environment and energy standards.
You will play a key role in rolling out a robust Safety Management System at a national level, working closely with regional managers and advisors, and supporting continuous improvement programmes. You will help create and sustain a safety-centred culture.
Responsibilities
* Support the deployment and execution of the HSQE strategy across the organisation.
* Lead and deliver company wide HSQE initiatives, projects, and programmes focused on improving our clients Safety Management System.
* Coordinate action plans in response to HSQE non-compliances identified across business units; work closely with Regional Health & Safety Managers/teams to address them.
* Collect, analyse and report HSQE performance data (KPIs, trends, incident/near-miss data) for senior stakeholders.
* Support governance of safety frameworks, safety culture, leadership, and safety coach forums.
* Provide specialist health & safety advice to functional areas; ensure relevant policies, procedures, and practices are implemented and embedded.
* Identify role/function-level HSQE needs in collaboration with business stakeholders; anticipate how future changes might impact those needs.
* Oversee accident/incident reporting, investigations, and ensure induction, training, policies are correctly applied.
* Maintain awareness of legislative and regulatory requirements, best practice in HSQE; ensure business compliance and readiness for audits.
* Lead, motivate and develop Health & Safety Advisors and Coordinators; set objectives, monitor performance and foster continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Relevant third level qualification in health & safety, environmental science, engineering or similarly related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).
* At least 5 years' experience in a health & safety / HSQE role, ideally within utility, water, or similar sectors.
* Experience in people management, including coaching, performance management, conflict resolution and leading change.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to distil trends, propose solutions, and see projects to delivery.
* Flexible and adaptable; capable of shifting focus in line with business needs and regulatory developments.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
