Job Description: Head of Process Intake The Company FBA Laboratories Limited has operated from its current location since 2003 but its laboratories were set up in 1996. They are located in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in Cappoquin, Co. Waterford, in the heart of the Irish countryside. The company provides analytical services to agribusiness, agricultural advisers, farmers, and veterinary practitioners and the food industry. Materials analysed include feedstuffs, grass, silage, food, milk, blood, water, soils, fertilisers, and industrial by-products. The company is accredited to ISO17025 for pH, lime requirement, phosphorus, potassium, and organic matter in soils, as well as broad range of chemistry analyses which utilises techniques including FIA, HPLC, IC, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, Photometry. FBA Laboratories is on the EPA-approved laboratory list for water analysis. FBA is also listed as an approved laboratory for the Animal Health BVD Eradication Scheme. In addition, the team regularly undertakes commissioned ad-hoc research and investigative projects sponsored by government agencies, academic institutions, and agricultural supply companies. Role Overview We are seeking a Head of Process Intake to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will fulfil a critical role at FBA Laboratories, preparing samples received for subsequent analysis. The role involves coordinating process intake planning and participating in operational activities to include sample handling, registration, storage, packaging, preparation, preservation and dispatch. The role includes the management and release of laboratory consumables. Key Responsibilities Handle sample receipt, classification, preparation, and dispatch in line with laboratory testing requirements. Liaise with customers to clarify work orders and ensure courteous, professional communication. Manage sample storage and disposal following quality and safety standards. Maintain the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for accurate data recording. Operate, calibrate, and maintain intake process instruments; coordinate fault resolution with engineers. Monitor and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational and quality targets. Manage consumable stock levels, including timely reordering and release. Support process improvement projects and contribute to continuous operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards and participate in internal/external audits. Uphold company quality procedures and maintain accurate laboratory records. Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all work activities. Adapt to business needs, undertaking additional duties and supporting team coordination as required. Skills, Qualifications & Experience Excellent organisational skills and ability to coordinate teams in a fast-paced environment. Effective communicator with strong mentoring and leadership abilities. IT Skills including familiarity with LIMS. Familiarity with quality management systems. Experienced in People Management. 35 years in a process / warehouse environment, ideally in an Intake Process role. Proven experience in an ISO-accredited quality management environment. Detail-oriented and methodical. Collaborative and supportive team player. Committed to continuous improvement and innovation. Resilient and adaptable to workload variations.
