Job DescriptionEHS Internationalis proud to be partnering with a leading acute healthcare provider in the South East of Ireland to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Officer – Grade VII for a permanent position.

About the Hospital:
The hospital is a major Model 4 teaching facility providing a wide range of services, including cardiology, orthopaedics, oncology, neurology, and maternity care.
It is the designated cancer centre for the South East and collaborates with academic institutions to support clinical education and excellence in healthcare delivery.
Purpose of the Role:
The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with national health and safety legislation, policies, and governance frameworks.
This role is vital in supporting the hospital's health and safety culture and ensuring that robust systems are in place to protect staff, patients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as lead advisor on all health and safety matters across the hospital group.
Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of the Corporate Safety Statement.
Develop and maintain safety systems, risk assessments, and training programmes.
Oversee compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols and national guidance.
Liaise with external regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Authority and the State Claims Agency.
Support audit processes, data reporting, and delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Provide expert advice and practical support to line managers, teams, and staff across all levels
Terms of Employment:
Contract:Permanent, full-time
Working Hours:37 hours per week, with flexibility between 8am–8pm over a 7-day roster
RequirementsLevel 8 (or higher) qualification in Health and Safety, accredited for Graduate Membership of IOSH.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in a Health and Safety Officer or Advisor role.
Strong working knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and HSE systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety data systems.
Full driving licence and access to own transport (essential due to travel requirements between sites).
Experience working within a healthcare or hospital environment.
Familiarity with internal audits, incident investigations, and the development of policies and procedures.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a busy, multidisciplinary setting.
