Job Description:
As a Cancer Data Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate collection and reporting of cancer data. This includes collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to promote accurate and relevant data collection, as well as maintaining confidentiality and adhering to information governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collect and collate cancer diagnosis, treatment, outcomes, and services activity data in line with local and national data sets.
* Oversee the collection and analysis of data, interpret findings, prepare reports, and participate in presentations to facilitate improvement.
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to information governance and data protection regulations.
Clinical Audit & Research:
* Contribute to clinical audit design, ensuring 100% capture rate and validation of cancer data on the cancer clinical audit information system.
* Work with consultants to analyze treatment outcomes.
Quality and Standards:
* Develop and maintain site-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) for effective and efficient data management using local and national templates.
* Participate in accreditation programs as required.
Requirements:
* Professional qualifications in a related field (e.g., data management, data analytics)
* Previous experience managing healthcare data or clinical databases
* Experience working in a clinical environment or as part of a clinical team
Desirable Skills:
* Knowledge of OECI Cancer Accreditation Standards
* Postgraduate qualification in data management/data analytics
* Awareness of NCCP KPIs and National Cancer Strategy and Infrastructure
* Knowledge of cancer services and cancer MDM process
