What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a seasoned product designer who’s been around the block and knows how to ship. You’ll lead the design of our immigration app and internal tools. In a few months, you might be shaping the experience for a brand-new app we acquire, whether it’s AI-powered or not. Things move fast here, and nothing stays still.
This isn’t a one-product job. You’ll work across a diverse mix of apps, each with different users, problems, and opportunities. One month, you’re untangling a complex immigration case journey; a few months later, you’re crafting an entertaining, social experience that people actually want to share.
Ultimately, you must be passionate about turning user tears into product cheers.
What you’ll be doing
* Set the design vision and lead all design efforts for the core product, ensuring every experience feels seamless and connected.
* Break big ambitions into incremental steps that guide the team forward.
* Design functional, emotional, and accessible experiences, balancing ideal UX with real-world trade-offs based on technical constraints, experimentation strategies, and business priorities.
* Own every stage of the design process from discovery, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, to pixel-perfect UI.
* Understand users deeply by running research sessions, reviewing insights, analysing data, and running lightweight experiments when needed.
* Partner with product, growth, monetisation, analytics, and engineering to drive the team from problem discovery to solution discovery to shipped product.
* Collaborate and communicate to amplify the voice of users and influence business and product strategy. Be open to feedback while expressing your own opinions.
* Raise the design bar at BlueThrone by shaping our culture, sharing knowledge, and pushing our community of practice forward.
What you’ll need to succeed
* Extensive experience in designing and shipping successful mobile consumer products and internal tools in fast-paced, high-growth environments, ideally at pre-seed, seed, and Series A startups where speed, ambiguity, and ownership are the norm.
* Expert at designing for iOS and Android, and comfortable on desktop for internal tools.
* Ability to zoom out and connect the dots while sweating UI details to create cohesive, end-to-end experiences.
* Commitment to inclusive design and accessibility.
* Ability to make well-reasoned trade-offs and advocate for great UX.
* Start from first principles and challenge industry norms; build products that tackle long-standing user problems in new ways.
* Strong writing as part of design, ensuring copy is intentional and concise.
* Flexible approach; can develop a point of view on market trends and adjust with debate.
* Ability to contribute product sense and design sense, and work hands-on.
* Clear communication and ability to work across diverse teams, challenging ideas thoughtfully and influencing decisions without ego.
Bonus points
* Experience with FinTech or regulated products handling sensitive data is a plus.
* Skills in motion design, animations, and visual effects; experience with Rive is a plus.
