JOB DESCRIPTION:
Organize, coordinate, and promote a comprehensive sports program that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the district and community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
2. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
3. Strong problem-solving skills
4. Coaching Principles Certificate (NFHS or ASEP)
5. Sports First Aid Health & Safety for Coaches Certificate (ASEP or PREPARE)
6. Complete coaches' portion of NFHS Sportsmanship Course
7. Complete NFHS Concussion course
8. Complete NFHS Heat Acclimatization course
9. Must have an active CPR certification each year with AED Training
10. Complete NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest
11. General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
12. Knowledge of sport
13. Specific knowledge of subjects assigned
14. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
1. Use various instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the assigned sport
2. Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship
3. Collaborate with school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives for the overall educational development of student athletes
4. Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities periodically
5. Ensure safety precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities
6. Stay informed of and ensure compliance with all AHSAA rules
7. Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular activities
8. Coordinate with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and manage athletic event arrangements
9. Develop and evaluate coaching programs, making adjustments as necessary
10. Supervise student athletes during competitions and out-of-town trips
11. Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations related to scholarships and recruiting
12. Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of three to five years of coaching experience
2. Other qualifications as required by the Board
