Role Overview
The Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist provides specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children and adolescents with a range of mental health conditions.
The role involves clinical leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, and contribution to service development to ensure high-quality, evidence based care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and ongoing management of children and adolescents.
Develop and oversee individualized care and treatment plans.
Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
Offer clinical supervision and guidance to junior medical staff and allied health professionals.
Liaise with families, schools, social services, and other relevant agencies.
Ensure clinical practice complies with professional, ethical, and legal standards.
Participate in service development, quality improvement, and audit activities.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Medical degree with specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Specialist registration (or eligibility for registration) with the relevant medical regulatory authority.
Demonstrated experience working within child and adolescent mental health services.
Strong clinical leadership and decision making skills.
