Position Summary
This is a key role requiring extensive technical and organisational skills. The Facilities Technician is responsible for executing day-to-day facilities activities and achieving departmental goals for Safety, Quality, and Operational Effectiveness. The technician primarily handles maintenance & calibration of plant utilities, process equipment, and the generation of associated documentation (paper or electronic).

Duties
Safety
* Participate in HSSE Safety committees
* Report, trend, action, and investigate safety unsafe acts, near misses, incidents, and accidents using the appropriate STERIS electronic systems
* Conduct safety audits as required
* Drive safety standards throughout the site and operational work areas
* Be an active member in all process and plant-based risk assessments
* Ensure 5S audits are executed and maintained as required
* Ensure strict adherence to site security standards
* Ensure all PPE standards are maintained and available to team members
* Has the authority to delay or abort cycles in specific circumstances such as emergency situations
Quality
* Participate actively in equipment/facilities-related process deviation investigations and non-conformances, ensuring root cause investigations are executed, and corrective/preventive actions are identified, in conjunction with the Quality Operations team
* Participate in regulatory inspections and customer quality audits when required
* Maintain effective communication and escalation processes to raise facility issues to management
* Update and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and engineering procedures, ensuring compliance and accuracy
* Coordinate Change Control/Parameter Change processes and generate required documentation for the plant quality management system
Cost
* Review and monitor plant downtime, suggesting improvements
* Manage the spare part inventory process, working with Purchasing and Facilities teams to ensure cost-effective procurement
* Maintain spare part stock levels on Emaint and ensure timely purchase orders
Delivery
* Ensure external calibration equipment is scheduled and completed timely
* Generate work orders and troubleshoot equipment, including control systems, PLCs, conveyors, and electrical power equipment
* Support development of an annual Facilities budget
* Oversee equipment upgrades and refurbishment projects, coordinating with vendors per change control policies
* Schedule and ensure completion of third-party activities and monitor call outs in line with production demands
* Participate and lead improvement projects as deemed by management
* Manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Emaint) effectively
* Ensure routine preventive maintenance is completed as per SOPs and work instructions
* Review unplanned maintenance and ensure proper recording and tracking of activities
* Maintain equipment to standards that support validated processing parameters and participate in continuous improvement of equipment and processes

* Engage in training and continuous learning to meet industry best practices
Continuous Improvement / KPIs
* Oversee SQDC countermeasures and ensure target dates are met
* Identify and implement process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives, including KAIZEN events
* Develop and drive 5S programs within the department
* Participate in process mapping, gemba walks, and problem-solving exercises

* Improve facility performance to ensure operational efficiency and safety

Education & Experience
* Ability to build relationships within operations teams
* Structured, analytical thinker with strong spreadsheet and presentation skills
* Project management experience is advantageous
* Background in continuous improvement is a plus
* High processing goals, effective communication, and leadership skills
* Proficient in MS Office
* Minimum 3 years relevant experience and trade qualification
