Job description Traffic Management Operative- Driver GKTM is part of the Garry Keville group of companies. It is a dedicated traffic management company providing nationwide solutions. Over the past decade, GKTM has operated at the forefront of the industry, contributing to many major infrastructure and transport projects across the country. Role We currently have a number of vacancies for Traffic Management Operatives - Drivers to be based primarily in our Blanchardstown Depot. As a Traffic Management Operative Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic in designated areas, including road construction sites, events, and maintenance projects. You will be responsible for driving the company vehicle, setting up, maintaining, and dismantling traffic control measures and equipment while adhering to all relevant safety regulations and guidelines. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and effective communication with colleagues and the public. Additionally, you will be responsible for driving company vehicles to transport equipment and personnel to and from work sites. Training will be delivered upon commencement to ensure the successful candidate understands how to carry out their duties safely while on site. The successful candidate will look forward to the following: Benefits Competitive rates of pay Opportunities to progress within company Company organised events In depth traffic management training, both in-house and externally Full-time, permanent positions are available Overtime available Requirements Valid Safe Pass Manual Handling Full B and/or C driver license desirable but not essential Own transport essential for shifts which may begin outside of the hours of public transport Responsibilities: Traffic Management Equipment Setup:Safely install and set up traffic management equipment, signs, cones, barriers, and other equipment according to established plans and procedures under the guidance of the site supervisor. Traffic Management: Monitor traffic flow and respond to changing conditions, adjusting traffic control measures as necessary to ensure the safety of both workers and the public. Driving Company Vehicles (Drivers Only): Operate company vehicles, such as trucks or vans, to transport traffic management equipment and personnel to and from work sites. Drive vehicles with caution, obeying all traffic laws and company policies, and ensure the safe loading and securing of equipment. Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and guidelines while carrying out duties, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance of traffic management equipment to ensure proper functionality, reporting any issues to the supervisor. Communication: Effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and the public, providing clear and courteous instructions and information regarding traffic control measures and diversions. Emergency Response: Act promptly and effectively in case of emergencies or incidents, following established procedures to mitigate risks and ensure public safety. Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to traffic management activities, including equipment usage and maintenance reports. Environmental Awareness: Consider and implement environmentally friendly practices in traffic management, including waste management and pollution control. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices and participate in training programs to improve skills and knowledge related to traffic management. Profile of the ideal candidate: Previous experience in traffic management or a related field is preferred but not essential. Flexible, willing to work shifts during the day or night in line with the requirements of our clients. Punctual. Willing to work down the country for up to five consecutive days. React positively to feedback provided by your mentor and other leaders within the organisation. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
