About Our EHS Role

Our company seeks an experienced EHS Engineer to develop and maintain a comprehensive occupational health and safety management system. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring our plant's EHS management system is effective, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.

Job Description:

1. Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with site EHS management system programs, including contractor control, hazardous work, and permit to work systems, chemical safety programs, PPE, electrical safety, and fire safety programs.
2. Maintain effective training programs and deliver training on EHS matters on-site.
3. Manage the facility's internal audits and inspection program, tracking action items to closure.
4. Generate reports on EHS data, analyze trends, and lead EHS initiatives.
5. Monitor legal compliance and establish procedures to address weaknesses promptly; conduct EHS compliance assessments in the plant.
6. Assist in ensuring EHS action tracking and management across all functions of the organization.
7. Coordinate and lead health and safety risk assessments for tasks, areas, and equipment.
8. Support the development and maintenance of a comprehensive EHS management system (ISO 45001).
9. Ensure incident investigations and corrective actions are tracked to closure.
10. Conduct manual handling and ergonomic assessments.
11. Assess compliance on batch records and other manufacturing documentation.
12. Support maintenance of the site's Emergency Response Team and Emergency Response Plan, addressing obligations as an Upper Tier Seveso Site.
13. Contribute to continuous improvement in EHS training program effectiveness; develop and deliver EHS training modules and briefings.
14. Assist with updating documentation in a GMP environment and with regulatory agency inspections and communications.
15. Ensure EHS roles and responsibilities are complied with according to the site's Health & Safety Management System.
16. Support security activities and access control.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

* A Primary Degree in Engineering or Science specializing in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
* 3–5 years' experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role within bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing, oil & gas, or chemicals industry environments is highly desirable.
* Strong EHS leadership capabilities; experience on Seveso sites, IED Licence / ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 & GMP manufacturing is advantageous.
* Internal auditor experience and manual handling trainer qualifications; VDU assessor qualification is desirable.
* Highly organized with the ability to work on your own initiative.
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to conduct internal audits and inspections.
* Strong analytical and engineering skills; good influencing and training abilities.
* Excellent report writing skills and a mindset of continuous improvement and accountability for EHS system implementation at site.
