We are a fitted furniture company who specialise in the design and manufacture of bespoke joinery for commercial fit-outs. The Role Definition As the CAD Manager at OConnor Woodwork, you will lead, mentor, and oversee our dedicated team of CAD Technicians. This role requires a balance: hands on work, designing and drawing fitted furniture in Cabinet Vision, and a strategic leader who can optimize workflows, set high standards, and drive team performance. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development Lead & Mentor: Manage the daily operations of the CAD team, providing coaching, technical guidance, and quarterly performance reviews. Resource Planning: Manage workload distribution and scheduling, setting daily and weekly targets to stay ahead of changing project priorities. Training: Drive induction for new hires and ongoing training initiatives to keep the team at the forefront of industry practices and internal workflows. Standards & Quality Control Technical Oversight: Oversee the creation, review, and approval of all detailed drawings and work orders to ensure consistency and accuracy. System Management: Keep up to date company-wide CAD standards, drafting guidelines, and maintain standardized libraries of components and templates. Efficiency: Continually identify opportunities to improve drafting speed and accuracy through refined procedures. Cross-Departmental Collaboration Production Link: Work closely with the Contracts and Production Managers to resolve on-site fitting issues, snags, or design discrepancies. Problem Solving: Act as the primary point of contact for CAD inquiries and technical troubleshooting. Requirements & Qualifications Software : Proficiency in drawing drafting. Experience in Cabinet Visionwould be preferred Industry Expertise: Knowledge of commercial fit-out practices, furniture manufacturing operations, and CNC fabrication. Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing a technical team and delegating work based on individual strengths. Primary Goals High-Performance Team: Cultivate a skilled, supported team that consistently hits project milestones. Output Accuracy: Monitor work orders and cutting lists to ensure we remain ahead of schedule without sacrificing quality.
