Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to join our team in the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to the environmental assessment of sensor materials and systems by applying Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methods.
The primary purpose of this role is to generate robust environmental insights that demonstrate the benefits of decomposable sensor technologies and to support the project in delivering innovations that are not only technically feasible but also resource-efficient and climate-resilient.
Responsibilities
* To apply LCA methods to evaluate the performance of sensor materials and systems from design through field deployment.
* To conduct prospective assessments to inform material and design choices, comparative analyses between conventional and decomposable sensors, and integration of real-world field data to refine environmental impact evaluations.
* To collaborate closely with partners across disciplines to provide evidence to guide sensor development and ensure that environmental sustainability is embedded throughout the project.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a strong background in engineering or a related field and excellent communication skills. They should also have experience working on projects related to environmental sustainability and sensor technology.
Benefits
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project with international collaborators and contribute to the development of innovative sensor technologies.
