Senior Tax Accountant
Bidvest Noonan are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for managing the group's end-to-end tax compliance and reporting across the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom.
This includes the accurate preparation and timely submission of all tax payments, returns, and statutory declarations—covering VAT, Corporation Tax, RTC, CIS, payroll taxes, and annual compliance obligations.
While tax remains the core focus, the role also contributes to broader financial governance and strategic decision-making.
Operating within a facility management environment, the role plays a critical part in minimizing tax liabilities by identifying savings opportunities, analysing service contracts, and advising senior management on the financial impact of evolving tax laws and strategic decisions.
The successful candidate will also lead the response to tax audits, maintain organized and audit-ready tax records, monitor industry and legislative changes, and implement robust policies that support the company's financial health and regulatory compliance.
In addition to leading the group's tax compliance and strategy, the successful candidate will contribute to broader financial governance initiatives.
This includes supporting internal controls, financial reporting accuracy, and compliance with corporate policies and regulatory frameworks. Key Responsibilities
Republic of Ireland Tax Duties:
* Prepare and file VAT returns (bi-monthly/monthly as applicable)
* Manage Corporation Tax computations and submissions
* Administer Relevant Contracts Tax (RTC) for subcontractors
* Ensure compliance with PAYE/PRSI/USC obligations
* Oversee annual declarations of compliance and tax clearance
* Liaise with Revenue Commissioners on audits, queries, and updates
United Kingdom Tax Duties
* Prepare and submit VAT returns (monthly/quarterly)
* Manage Corporation Tax filings and payments
* Administer Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deductions and returns
* Ensure PAYE/NIC compliance for UK-based staff
* Handle annual declarations and HMRC correspondence
General Tax & Compliance Oversight
* Maintain tax calendars and ensure timely filings
* Monitor legislative changes and assess business impact
* Coordinate with external advisors for complex tax matters
* Support financial audits with tax documentation
* Implement internal controls for tax risk management
* Provide tax guidance on contracts, procurement, and new ventures
Corporate Governance & Strategic Financial Support
* Support the Accounting & Internal Controls Director in implementing financial governance frameworks
* Contribute to the development and enforcement of internal financial policies and procedures
* Assist in the preparation and review of statutory financial statements and regulatory filings
* Provide input on strategic decisions involving supplier location, transfer pricing, and intercompany arrangements
* Assess tax and cash flow implications of cross-border transactions and FX exposure
* Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to align tax strategy with broader business goals
* Participate in risk assessments and internal audits related to financial processes
Other assignments relevant to the role agreed with the Accounting & Internal Controls Director.
Qualifications & Skills required
* ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified accountant
* Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) designation from the Irish Tax Institute or the Chartered Institute of Taxation (UK)
* Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in tax accounting, with exposure to cross-border operations
* Proven expertise in VAT, Corporation Tax, RTC, CIS, and payroll tax compliance
* Up-to-date CPD record in tax legislation and compliance
* Expert knowledge of Irish and UK tax frameworks
* Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
* Proficiency in accounting and tax platforms (e.g., ROS, HMRC, Sage, Xero, or similar)
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
