About the Role

As a Day Opportunities Team Leader, you will lead and inspire your team to create opportunities that enhance the independence, skills, and wellbeing of individuals with intellectual disabilities. You will ensure services are inclusive, person-centred, and empowering.

Role Requirements

* Minimum QQI Level 7 degree in Social Care, Social Studies, Youth and Community Studies, or Social Work or other relevant qualification at degree level
* A minimum of 3 years' work experience working with individuals with intellectual disability
* Track record of leading and overseeing service delivery or programme implementation. Proven capability in guiding teams to deliver high-quality programmes and services
* Excellent IT and report writing skills.
* Must hold a full clean driving licence valid in Ireland and be willing to drive company vehicles
* Proficient in both oral and written English language
* Have the legal right to work in Ireland and currently hold valid work authorisation for Ireland

* Training or experience in community inclusion or advocacy
* Experience supporting individuals to access education, training, or employment
* Management or leadership qualification or equivalent experienc

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Day Opportunities Team Leader will have the following duties. :

Provision of Person-Centred Supports and Opportunities

* Ensure that individuals are supported and facilitated in the development, implementation and review of their personal plans, intimate care plans, behaviour support plans and that the actions agreed in these plans are carried out.
* Lead and develop the staff team in supporting the delivering of high-quality person-centred services, problem solving and seeking solutions to outcomes and barriers raised in the delivery of person-centred plans.
* Ensure that the keyworker system is implemented, and monitored and ensure that individuals receive a high-quality, person-centred service which addresses choices and requirements.
* Oversee the planning and implementation of the individuals' weekly schedules to ensure they reflect choice, participation, and a variety of meaningful opportunities for each individual.
* Oversee the planning and co-ordination of Individuals circle of support and annual review meetings and attendance at planning meetings, case reviews, professionals' meetings etc.
* Monitor and report on the health and well-being of Service users. Take appropriate action to assist and report concerns to the Day Services Co-ordinator and any Clinical review processes. Provide guidance to other staff members as relevant.
* Ensure and evidence that individuals have their social, educational, and vocational development needs addressed by the provision of opportunities to experience different options, training, advice, instruction, and support.
* Ensure and evidence that individuals supported by the services are facilitated and encouraged to develop their choice and decision-making skills and to actively participate and integrate into the community, through the use of community facilities.
* Monitor and ensure accurate and up to date records for each person to include the personal needs assessments, risk assessments, incidents and notifiable events, file notes, communication plans, behavioural management support, health action plans, medication management and financial records.
* Monitor and evaluate the impact of each project/programme/support/opportunity to establish and record how well the experiences impacted on each individual's wellbeing, personal growth, and development.
* Provide a point of contact for the service and to deal with queries in a timely, profession, and courteous manner.
* Identify and work in partnership with the Day Services Facilitator to respond to unmet needs.
* Liaise with multidisciplinary support services team members, staff, and staff within other organisations, with regard to Individuals as required.
* Provide intimate care supports in a manner which the Individual's privacy, dignity, choices, and preferences are upheld and in line with Cumas's intimate care policy and as set out in their Support Plan.
* Accompany and support Individuals on holidays, outings, and in using community social and recreational facilities as required.

Leadership and Supervisory Management

* Guide supervise and direct staff in the provision of the standards for designated projects, programmes and supports for individuals operated inhouse and community based including rehabilitative training programmes as required.
* Lead the Day Opportunities staff team on a day-to-day basis specifically providing local supervision to the teams as agreed with the Day Service Co-ordinator, utilising a coaching style for team members.
* Co-ordinate staff work schedules and ensure that duties, activities, and programmes allocated to staff are carried out efficiently in line with plans.
* Be involved in the recruitment, selection, induction, probation, performance, and attendance of staff/volunteers.
* Provide individual support for team members by implementing regular support and supervision, develop, motivate, and support team members in their work, monitor and evaluate their performance, ensuring high standards of service are provided for Individuals.
* Ensure that the staff are provided with all mandatory and specific skills training to support and develop their skills.
* Provide leadership and support to the staff assigned in the operation of Cumas policies and procedures.
* Promote and foster a team approach including the delegation of duties, utilising the diverse skills and experience of all team members.
* Responsibility for attendance management, maintaining effective rosters and planning annual including the co-ordination of cover for planned/unplanned absences.
* Plan and prepare for staff meetings, training, and development sessions. In consultation with the Day Services Co-ordinator, develop and provide training to staff within Cumas.
* Be active in the preparation of the budget for allocated areas of responsibility and oversee the mindful use of Cumas resources.
* Ensure respectful communications and relationships are developed and maintained with all stakeholders. Respect professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality for all individual and service information.
* Organise, attend, and participate fully in meetings where all aspects of the service are discussed with a view to maintaining high standards and open communication among staff and good levels of staff morale.

Project/Programme/Individual Opportunity Planning and Implementation

* Ensure effective day-to-day schedules in line with Individuals requirements choices and plans.
* Overseeing the development of formal individual, project and programme plans prior to implementation. Monitor their roll out and conduct evaluations. Prepare reports which provide quantitative and qualitative information determining the impact for the individual.
* Ensure team members are aware of the projects/programmes/individual supports required and scheduled for each day and overseeing service delivery.
* Mentor and support Day Service Facilitators in their role, monitor the progress of projects and programmes and creating a culture of leadership at local level where the creativity and initiative of Day Opportunities staff is fostered and developed.
* Oversee that service locations are scheduled, set up, programmes delivered on time; equipment is available on each service day.
* Ensuing monthly quarterly feedback/planning and review sessions with Individuals and groups are completed and reviewing outcomes to inform future planning.
* Monitor and critically evaluate the range of projects and programmes both in house and community based which support each service user to increase their social participation and independence at the time of their choosing.

Maintaining Safe and Effective Work Systems/Record Keeping and Reporting

* Implement the national and local service standards as directed by the Day Services Co-ordinator
* Implement processes for the management of quality, safety, and compliance matters to include Quality Improvement Plans and Safeguarding, Incidents, Accident and Complaints registers in compliance with National policies and procedures and ensure a programme or continuous improvement is implemented.
* Conduct cross service audits and report findings to the General Manager.
* Assist in development of safety procedures, Policy and Procedure manual and Quality Assurance
* Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures, safe work practices, and risk management process are developed and adhered to.
* Ensure staff are aware and operate to fire regulations and emergency procedures and lead the implementation of same.
* Ensure appropriate Risk Assessments are in place as part of person centred planning and positively support Individuals in their life choices.
* Ensure that the service locations are presented well left ready for use with standards of hygiene and cleanliness, both inside and outside the properties.
* Participate in and undertake audits, as per organisational policy and New Directions standards/ regulations and to implement actions as identified from audits. Participate in/ develop and lead service improvement initiatives to include compliance with National Standards, service monitoring, evaluations, and audit.
* Organise, document and chair regular staff and Individuals meetings.
* Plan and record staff meetings and supervision meetings throughout the year.
* Ensure that all reports, accounting information, timesheets/attendance/activity reports are accurate, completed and returned on time.
* Oversee and mentor staff to maintain good practice in report writing and record keeping.
* Reporting any challenges, issues, or concerns to the Day Services Coordinator
* Record and report any hazards or accidents to the Day Services Coordinator.
* Ensure Cumas management/governance/service record systems are maintained in line with required standards and within GDPR requirements.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

* Ensure effective communications between Day and Residential Services in support of the teams assigned.
* Contribute to the development of strategies for the implementation of new directions/organisational plans to meet the identified and emerging needs of the Individuals.
* To be responsible for maintaining up to date information on relevant databases and the monitoring and auditing of same. Attend and participate fully in regular staff meetings where all aspects of the service area are discussed with a view to maintaining high standards.
* Attend mandatory and specific skills training courses as scheduled.
* Manage the resources available to the service in a planned and efficient manner.
* Provide cover as required.
* To perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Day Opportunities Co-ordinator

Additional information

Position is based in New Ross area, Co. Wexford.
