The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive health and safety function from the ground up.DepartmentGroup Operations / Health & SafetyReporting ToManaging DirectorLocation:Group-wide role covering all sites: Tivoli, Tramore Road, Naas, and Greystones(Some travel between locations required)Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development and implementation of a Group Health & Safety strategy. (Using the ISO45001 framework).Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in line with HSE legislation and industry best practices.Act as the organisations subject matter expert on all health, safety, and compliance matters.Conduct risk assessments, develop safe systems of work, and ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practice.Oversee site-specific H&S initiatives across all locations (Tivoli, Tramore Road, Naas, and Greystones).Deliver staff training and toolbox talks on health & safety, manual handling, PPE use, traffic management, etc.Monitor and improve site safety in relation to vehicle movement, pedestrian safety, storage practices, and space management.Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and ensuring corrective actions are taken.Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing preventative measures.Maintain and regularly update H&S documentation, including policies, procedures, and risk registers.Liaise with external agencies, auditors, insurance companies, and regulatory bodies as required.Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with staff at all levels to drive awareness and accountability.EssentialQualifications and Skills:+3 years experience in a similar Health & Safety role, ideally within distribution, logistics, warehousing, or manufacturing.Experience in the ISO 45001 management system and its use in H&S auditing.Knowledge of ISO 9001.Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g., Higher Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, IOSH, or equivalent).Proven experience establishing or significantly enhancing a H&S functionStrong understanding of relevant H&S legislation and best practice.Experience in staff training and the delivery of H&S inductions and materials.Proficient in Microsoft Office and health and safety reporting software.Full driving license and willingness to travel to various sitesDesirableExperience managing H&S across multiple sites.Familiarity with transport safety, vehicle/pedestrian segregation, and warehousing environments.First Aid, Fire Safety, or Manual Handling Instructor qualifications.Key CompetenciesSelf-starter with the ability to work autonomously in a stand-alone role.Excellent communication and influencing skills to engage all levels of staff.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Organised, systematic, and capable of managing multiple priorities.What We OfferAppropriate salary packagePermanent RoleDigital Wellbeing PlatformPension ContributionsOpportunities for developmentFurther Education SupportOn Site ParkingMedical Expenses Reimbursement SchemeOur company is committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender, pregnancy, religion, nationality, ethnic origin, disability, medical history, skin colour, marital status, genetic information, socio economic or parental status.
