As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Photonics Packaging & Integration Engineer - to join our group.
What you'll do
Support R&D and process development activities for photonics packaging, electronic packaging, assembly, integration and test
Support photonics package process development for both prototype development and scaling to manufacture
Propose and develop innovative design solutions (design for excellence (DFX)) to meet photonic integrated circuit product or market requirements
Support CAD of package optical, opto-mechanical, and interposers design and tooling
Support thermal design of photonics systems design
Procurement selection, and qualification of photonic and electrical components and suppliers
Direct and/or conduct experiments as needed to support design efforts
Create acceptance test procedures and support process automation development
Quality control and yield analysis to provide feedback for design optimisation
Train design and assembly team members on design principles and practices for packaging and integration, create standard operating procedures, create assembly and process instructions
Project management and coordination with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project requirements and delivery schedules are met
Project planning and progress documentation
Contribute to contract tender and research proposals documentation for new projects
Support qualification and test of components for the space environment.
Preparing documentation according to Mbryonics' quality assurance processes
Who you are
A Bachelor's, Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven experience in photonics packaging and integration, ideally within a research, development, or manufacturing environment.
Experience in optical fibre and micro optics packaging techniques
Familiarity with electronic packaging techniques e.g. wirebonding and flip-chip bonding
Hands-on experience with assembly, integration, and testing of photonic systems.
A strong aptitude for problem-solving and a track record of proposing innovative solutions.
Experience with component selection, qualification processes, and supplier management is desirable.
Knowledge of quality control methodologies and yield analysis techniques is desirable
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Experience with documentation and technical report writing.
Familiarity with environmental testing standards, particularly for space applications, would be an advantage.
