What you will do
As the Senior Research and Proposal Specialist Team Leader you will be part of the Group Insurance Product & Underwriting team. You will be entrusted with responsibility for partnering with the team's Director and Level 1 Manager to lead a team of Proposal Specialists as well as having accountability for managing and executing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) working with our Sales and Account Management teams. This will include effectively writing clear, concise, client focused, and compelling responses that effectively position Prudential's group insurance products and employee benefit solutions to address customers' needs. In this role, you will be responsible for guiding the team members in researching and crafting responses; overseeing/performing proposal assignments; and conducting quality reviews of proposals ensuring accuracy with our product offering, positioning/branding, and style guide.
Part of your role includes collaborate with sales/account management associates, business partners—including underwriting, marketing, senior leadership, legal, and subject matter experts—to ensure Prudential is positioned accurately and effectively based upon the opportunity. What you can expect
* Provide leadership and daily supervision of Proposal Specialists, including one-on-ones, quarterly reviews, and talent development.
* Complete quality reviews; track results and trends against established department standards and performance objectives.
* Oversee/perform daily assignments of incoming opportunities.
* Guide the team in researching and crafting non-standard responses.
* Partner with sales/account management to determine broad client/prospect needs, identify trends, strengths and opportunities, as well as ensure consistency in proposal responses.
* Collaborate with underwriting, sales, product, and marketing to provide product and service consultative guidance in support of how we should position our responses.
* Develops custom proposal content through adapting boilerplate content and collaborating with Sales/Account Management, Underwriting, Marketing, and other subject matter experts to deliver high quality RFP questionnaires.
* Learns and adapts with the team's proposal management platform and tools for completing and collaborating as well as the various external broker platforms for submitting RFPs/RFIs.
* Use project management skills to ensure all deliverables are completed on time.
* Communicate and coordinate effectively with other members of the Proposal Unit, Group Insurance, and Corporate to ensure timely completion of all documents.
* Exercises judgment in applying procedures or addressing unusual situations.
* Supports process improvement activities as well as other projects.
* Identifies, assesses, and escalates issues as appropriate.
* Supports additional responsibilities as assigned.
What you will bring
* Financial services business experience or related.
* Experience leading project teams a plus.
* Strong knowledge of or ability to quickly learn our product offerings.
* Experience with Proposal Management platforms, Salesforce, and Tableau a plus
* Demonstrate data-driven mindset and agile approach to getting work done.
* Project management experience required.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence results.
* Excellent interpersonal partnering skills and must be detail oriented. Flexible working in a fast-paced environment with non-negotiable deadlines.
* Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, resourceful, and able to exercise sound judgment.
* Team player, creative, organized and detail oriented.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Flexibility and responsiveness to change.
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
* Previous proposal or like experience
* Knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Word
* Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) certification preferred or willingness to get certified.
