As a Social Care Worker, you will be part of a team delivering trauma-informed care, encouraging positive attachments through relationship building.

Key Responsibilities
* Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the Service.
* Promote physical, emotional, social and religious welfare of each young person in care.
* Encourage attendance at school, training centres, medical and clinical appointments.
* Responsible for the organisation of personal documents, arrangements, information, and finance on behalf of the young person.
* Liaise with the parent, family, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person.
* Attend meetings in relation to the care and developments of the young person.
* Engage in age-appropriate play and other activities with each child/young person within the Service.
* Engage in physical intervention where this is in keeping with local policies and procedures.
* Promote the participation of children and young people in decision making on issues that affect their lives at both individual and collective levels.
* Prepare and provide well-balanced meals of high quality.
* To undertake various aspects of home management including the household budget, upkeep and cleaning
* Attend team meetings and report to the leader on matters affecting the delivery of service.
* Make written and verbal reports to the leader on a regular basis on the progress of development of the young person.
* Ensure Child protection procedures are followed in accordance with the responsibilities of a designated officer.
* To keep abreast of current legislation and current professional childcare knowledge.
* Undertake ongoing professional training and development.
* Comply with and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice and adhere to relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
* Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).

Required Skills and Qualifications
* Childcare qualification or experience working with children and young people.
* Knowledge of child development stages and theories.
* Understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
* Ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, families and colleagues.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
* Basic IT skills and ability to use Microsoft Office software.
