Our client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a 12 month day rate contracting basis (PAYE). This role will be fully onsite in Dublin.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HVAC, data centre cooling, electronics cooling, or building services.
Experience in developing design concepts from exploration through deployment and construction.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present findings to senior management.
Preferred Qualifications
Chartered Engineer status and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Direct experience in data centre or mission-critical facility design, such as pharmaceutical, hospital, or semiconductor projects.
Knowledge of BIM and CFD modelling.
Background in large-scale technical operations or compute farms, with strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
What You’ll Do
Contribute to HVAC and mechanical design for critical infrastructure in new-build data centres across the EMEA region.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously across diverse geographical locations.
Review and approve equipment submittals, ensuring compliance with design and performance standards.
Oversee and coordinate design consultancy firms to develop, validate, and release data centre designs.
Collaborate with internal teams to capture user requirements and translate them into effective design solutions.
Partner with stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement Corrective Actions (CA) for design-related challenges.
Define project scopes and provide technical support throughout the construction phase.
Work closely with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify and procure appropriate mechanical equipment.
Travel to sites for reviews, engineering evaluations, audits, and launch activities.
Maintain a positive, innovative mindset, consistently offering creative, out-of-the-box solutions.
