Operators / Operatives - Water & Wastewater Location: Dublin Area: Asset Operations - Water & Wastewater Operations Contract Type: Permanent & Temporary Positions Overview We are seeking motivated and safety-focused Operators and Operatives to support the delivery of high-quality water and wastewater services across Dublin.
These roles are essential in protecting public health, safeguarding the environment, and ensuring that communities receive reliable drinking water and effective wastewater services every day.
Successful candidates will work as part of a regional operational team responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of treatment facilities, pumping infrastructure, and network assets.
We are recruiting to fill immediate vacancies and creating a panel for future roles over the next 12 months.
Positions Available
1. Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator Key Responsibilities: Operate and monitor treatment processes at assigned water and wastewater treatment plants Conduct daily inspections, sampling, and performance checks Perform routine maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability Respond to alarms, troubleshoot operational issues, and escalate where required Complete all site records, logs, and reporting in line with operational procedures Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards Support optimisation of treatment processes to improve efficiency Role Environment: Work across a defined geographic area covering multiple treatment sites Combination of indoor plant work, laboratory checks, and outdoor inspections
2. Water/Wastewater Network Operator Key Responsibilities: Support the day-to-day operation of the water and wastewater network Conduct network inspections, valve operations, flow and pressure checks, and hydrant testing Investigate customer issues such as supply interruptions, low pressure, water quality concerns, blockages, and overflows Resolve issues on first visit where possible, acting as a key customer-facing representative Carry out routine maintenance to maintain the integrity of the network Assist with leak detection, asset surveys, and network performance monitoring Record all works accurately in operational systems Role Environment: Field-based work across a designated area, including direct interaction with customers and local stakeholders
3. Water/Wastewater Network Maintenance & Repair Operative Key Responsibilities: Deliver planned and reactive maintenance and repair activities across the network Assist with repairs to water mains, sewers, valves, fittings, manholes, and associated assets Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely and effectively Support emergency response activities such as bursts, blockages, flooding, and pollution events Work closely with other field staff, contractors, and supervisors to ensure timely resolution of issues Maintain site safety, traffic management, and public protection during works Complete required documentation for works completed Role Environment: Highly active, hands-on role involving outdoor work in all weather conditions What We Offer Opportunities for long-term career development Full training and support, including onboarding for treatment and network operations A collaborative and safety-focused working environment The opportunity to contribute to essential public infrastructure and environmental protection
