Role Title: Laboratory Manager

We are recruiting a Laboratory Manager for a client, a genomics solutions service provider that partners with biopharmaceutical and clinical customers. The laboratory supports the generation of multi-omic data sets from various biological sample sources for delivery back to customers in raw data or report format.
Responsibilities
* Prioritise and manage internal workloads to ensure high-quality sample throughput into relevant workflows to meet business demands and collaborator expectations.
* Plan and monitor daily/weekly work assignments for technical staff to ensure adequate cover and redundancy for the laboratory.
* Provide hands-on laboratory support for workflows when required.
* Manage inventory and consumable stock control, ensure equipment maintenance and calibration schedules are maintained, and build/maintain vendor relations.
* Maintain daily/weekly/monthly cleaning and maintenance logs for equipment and work areas.
* Draft and review laboratory policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency with implementation.
* Set, maintain, and track quality objectives and indicators to ensure best practice and regulatory compliance standards are maintained.
* Provide quality indicators and workload statistics as requested by the Chief Scientific Officer/Quality Manager.
* Support integration of the laboratory information management system (LIMS) with laboratory instruments and company IT systems and databases.
* Maintain and develop the LIMS.
* Promote continuous process improvement to enhance laboratory efficiency using QC techniques such as LEAN and Six Sigma.
* Develop plans to ensure adequate resources and inventory to meet upcoming service needs.
* Ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance in the laboratory.
* Perform and record internal quality audits and follow up on corrective/preventive actions to maintain standards.
* Record and manage non-conformances related to laboratory processes/equipment/facilities, ensuring timely response with actions to eliminate root causes where possible.
* Manage implementation and recording of change controls in collaboration with the senior scientific team.
* Provide training and guidance to new and junior staff in relevant laboratory procedures.
* Liaise with facility management partners to ensure smooth environmental operations of the laboratory.
* Assist the Chief Scientific Officer and Quality Manager with compliance to CAP/CLIA and ISO15189 and Irish National Accreditation Board mandatory documentation.
* Support additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualification (MSc/PhD) in Biological Science or equivalent.
Preferred Experience
* Experience in personnel and project supervision/management.
* Knowledge of a wide range of specialised genomic laboratory equipment, including high-throughput/robotic systems, LIMS, sequencing and genotyping platforms.
* Ability to independently establish priorities, manage multiple tasks with deadlines, anticipate issues, and complete assignments timely.
* Flexibility and high functionality in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
* Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills to work across departments and contribute to business objectives.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Minimum two years of full-time work in an accredited high-throughput laboratory environment.
* Experience complying with international laboratory standards (e.g., ISO15189/17025, CAP/CLIA).
