Job Overview
Responsible for authorizing company resources to procure goods, equipment, and services needed to meet customer requirements.
Essential Functions:
1. Purchase order placement and expediting.
2. Supplier management and performance measurement.
3. Provide forecasts of raw material requirements with internal and external vendors periodically.
4. Work closely with engineering and manufacturing to ensure optimal suppliers and components are used in design; negotiate pricing, terms, availability, and lead times with suppliers.
5. Prepare supply chain summary reports of the BOM (Bill of Material) to define cost, lead times, supplier locations, component reuse, and supply chain strategies.
6. Procure materials for assigned departments. Prioritize and schedule critical material orders; negotiate with vendors to ensure quality and service.
7. Source new raw materials and suppliers; manage the RFQ process as needed.
8. Maintain and develop MRP, including purchase orders, updating pricing, and following up on order confirmations.
9. Collaborate with the Operations team to identify and minimize supply chain risks, ensuring on-time delivery and resolving issues.
10. Develop and implement inventory reduction strategies to meet targets and reduce excess and obsolete stock.
11. Identify and execute cost reduction strategies with the supplier base.
12. Coordinate with relevant functions to support planning and control processes with accurate BOMs, routings, yields, etc.
13. Support team members in achieving company objectives and strategies.
14. Work with Supply Base Managers to align with strategic sourcing goals and initiatives.
15. Collaborate with engineering to qualify supplier products.
Candidate Background:
1. Three or more years of purchasing, production planning, or relevant experience.
2. Working knowledge of MRP in SAP environment preferred.
3. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
4. Knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes.
5. Ability to manage multiple orders in a fast-paced environment.
6. Excellent proactive communication and organizational skills.
7. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and follow through.
8. Manage multiple conflicting tasks effectively.
9. High accuracy and attention to detail.
10. Strong prioritization skills.
11. Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP, and internet research.
