Scientist - Food Ingredients & InnovationA growing, innovation-led ingredients business is looking to bring in a Scientist to support R&D across food, beverage, and supplement applications.This is a hands-on role suited to someone early in their career who enjoys working in the lab, getting involved in formulation, and seeing projects through from concept to commercialisation.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport projects from initial customer brief through to commercial launchDevelop and refine ingredient formulations to meet performance and cost targetsCarry out lab and pilot trials (including spray drying, blending, and applications work)Troubleshoot formulations and adjust based on raw material or process challengesGenerate nutritional data, product specs, and supporting documentationManage ingredient stock and maintain lab materialsHandle sample requests and support urgent project timelinesWork closely with Sales, Production, Supply Chain, QA, and Operations teamsCommunicate project updates clearly to internal and external stakeholdersBuild relationships with customers, distributors, and suppliersUse internal systems to track projects and manage dataMaintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised lab environmentSupport internal training and knowledge‑sharing when neededRequirementsDegree in Food Science or a related field2-5 years' experience in product development within food or ingredientsHands‑on lab or pilot plant experienceStrong understanding of dry ingredient systems and food applicationsAble to manage multiple projects and work to deadlinesGood attention to detail and problem‑solving skillsComfortable working cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environmentClear communication skills, both written and verbalExperience with spray drying would be an advantageExposure to functional foods, sports nutrition, or supplements is a plusSome awareness of international regulations would be beneficial
