About the Role
An R&D Engineer is required to support Aran Biomedical’s Biomaterial Design & Development team during a phase of rapid expansion due to new business activities.
This role reports to the Engineering and Design Services Manager and involves supporting all aspects of the Device Development Process, including design, prototyping, and development of biomaterial-based devices for vascular implants.
The candidate should have a keen eye for detail, research aptitude, and innovation. The projects will be diverse, offering opportunities to develop skills in Biomaterial-based Medical Devices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support customer engagement in applying Aran Biomedical’s Biomaterials technology.
* Design and develop innovative solutions, including processing technologies and prototypes.
* Enhance Aran Biomedical’s intellectual property portfolio in device design and process technology.
* Maintain organized records and produce technical reports.
* Document processes and designs with full traceability in laboratory notebooks.
* Adhere to safety procedures.
Key Requirements for the Role:
The candidate should have an engineering background, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Key skills include:
* Honours Degree in Biomedical/Mechanical/Polymer Engineering.
* Laboratory experience.
* Hands-on experience in prototype or process development, from medical or non-medical industries.
* Knowledge of polymer materials and coating processes.
* Understanding of Medical Device regulatory requirements and Design Control processes is a plus.
* Proficiency in AutoCad, 3D Modelling, and MS Office.
* Effective communication, detailed documentation, and technical report writing skills.
