Horticultural Manager Kilkenny Our client, a leading home, garden, DIY & Agri business are expanding their operation and seeking to hire a Horticulturist Manager in Kilkenny on a full-time permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is eager to take a hands-on approach, take ownership of the division and help establish a new sector within the company from the ground up. The successful candidate will report directly to the Operations Manager, who, along with the leadership team, will fully support you to develop a high-performing team and operation. Responsibilities: Sales: To ensure that sales targets and KPIs are monitored and achieved To provide high levels of customer service at all times and to lead by example in this regard Staff: Provide effective hands-on training and on-going coaching and support to staff within your department Ensure that weekly and daily work planning schedules are created and actioned Display, merchandising and layout: Achieve high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping at all times Ensure the store is safe and compliant with the health and safety standards Ensure that all stock is always clearly priced Ensure retail standards and plant quality meets standards Be responsible for the overall layout of the garden centre Buying, ordering and stock control: Responsible for all purchasing and pricing for your department Ensure that stock levels are kept within budgeted requirement Be responsible for rolling stock takes throughout the department Be responsible for stock control within your department including ordering, stocking up, quality control and clearance of slow moving stock Ensure that product prices are in line with budgeted gross margin figures Overall Key Tasks: Customer service and sales Staff organisation Product display and layout Stock ordering and stock level control Maintenance of standards throughout the garden centre Requirements: Degree or equivalent in Horticulture, Botany, Landscape Management, Plant Science, or a related field. Minimum 35 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial horticultural role. Proven experience in plant cultivation & maintenance Demonstrated ability to manage a team, schedules, and budgets effectively.
