We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to play a critical role in the development, support, and optimisation of key manufacturing systems within our Irish operations. This position blends traditional systems engineering with application-level integration and development, supporting plant-floor technology such as FactoryTalk Batch, SQL Server, and PLC-connected data systems.
Youll lead and support technology initiatives that drive data traceability, automation, compliance, and operational efficiency within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, configure, support and maintain plant-floor systems including FactoryTalk Batch, SQL Server, HMI/SCADA systems, and related manufacturing applications.
* Lead or support the development of custom system tools, integrations, or interfaces that enable operational data flow from PLCs, sensors, and manufacturing equipment.
* Translate user requirements into functional technical solutions, working closely with engineering, operations, and IT.
* Administer, troubleshoot, and optimise SQL Server databases related to production systems.
* Ensure system reliability, compliance, and performance in accordance with internal standards and GMP/regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate on cross-functional projects (e.g. digitalisation, automation, Plant of the Future) involving hardware, software, and data architecture.
* Maintain system documentation and support robust testing and validation procedures.
* Engage with external vendors and system integrators to deliver and support tailored engineering solutions.
Key Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
* Minimum of 2+ years experience in systems or applications engineering within a manufacturing, industrial, or regulated setting.
* Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server scripting, querying, performance tuning, and integration.
* Exposure to or hands-on experience with FactoryTalk Batch (highly desirable), Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms, SCADA, and industrial control systems.
* Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES), industrial networks, and production data flows.
* Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (FMCG, food, pharma, etc.) is a strong advantage.
