Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement
Location
Dublin 8 - Hybrid
CPL is partnering with a well establish public sector organisation are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to take on the role of Director of Strategic Communications & Engagement. This is a senior appointment responsible for shaping and delivering high-impact communications strategies, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and enhancing organisational reputation and trust.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive (or nominee), you will act as a key strategic advisor to senior leadership and the Board on all aspects of communications, public positioning, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic communications advice to executive leadership and the Board
Lead corporate communications, media relations, and crisis management
Develop and implement internal and external engagement strategies
Oversee digital communications, including website and social media
Drive stakeholder engagement across government, agencies, and partners
Manage reputation, public messaging, and brand positioning
Lead and develop a high-performing communications team
Support organisational change through effective communication strategies
About You
Degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
Minimum 10 years’ experience in communications, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
Proven experience in strategic communications, media management, and reputation management
Strong influencing skills with experience advising senior leaders and boards
Track record of managing communications in complex, high-pressure environments
Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder engagement skills
