The role
We have a requirement for a Senior, site-based Health & Safety Advisor to support a major energy infrastructure project.
The Senior Health & Safety Advisor will play a key role in ensuring the safe execution of the project, maintaining compliance with Irish health and safety legislation, and providing expert guidance and leadership within a complex, multi-contractor environment.
This is a 12-month contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with applicable Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations and relevant codes of practice
Support the implementation and ongoing management of the Construction Stage Safety & Health Plan
Provide expert health and safety advice to project and construction management teams
Promote high safety standards across site, with particular focus on high-risk activities such as lifting operations, confined space works, and mechanical and electrical installations
Monitor and manage contractor and subcontractor safety performance throughout the project lifecycle
Review and approve Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and permit-to-work documentation Carry out routine site inspections and formal safety audits
Track, manage, and close out corrective actions arising from audits, inspections, and observations
Monitor safety KPIs, analyse trends, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and prepare detailed reports
Contribute to project risk assessments, construction planning, and the safe sequencing of works
Support the development and implementation of emergency preparedness and response plans
Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and other safety awareness initiatives
Mentor and provide guidance to junior health and safety personnel
Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and project documentation
Assist with the preparation and compilation of the Project Safety File
Key Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline
Professional membership (e.g. IOSH / IIRSM) is desirable
6–7+ years’ experience in construction health and safety
Proven experience on large-scale industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects
Experience operating within complex, multi-contractor environments
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
Excellent hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk management capabilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced, high-risk environment
Strong communication, presentation, and report-writing skills
Proactive, detail-focused, and solutions-oriented approach
