You will manage technical design, contracting, delivery, commissioning, and optimisation of large-scale infrastructure projects within a multi-billion euro capital investment portfolio.About the roleLeads all Civil, Structural & Architectural engineering for Bord Gáis Energy’s assets and projects, coordinates with Asset Development teams to influence strategic direction, and manages key stakeholders including contractors, regulators, TSO/DSO and government bodies. Oversees contracts, tender assessments, and performance management for thermal generation, solar, turbine, and battery storage projects. Provides technical expertise and governance throughout design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases. Ensures designs are technically sound and cost-effective and coordinates technical interfaces across EPC contractors, OEMs, consultancies, and authorities. Supports due diligence on new investment opportunities.ResponsibilitiesLead Civil, Structural & Architectural engineering for Bord Gáis Energy’s assets and projects.Collaborate with Asset Development teams to influence Centrica’s strategic direction.Manage key stakeholders including contractors, regulators, TSO/DSO, and government bodies.Oversee contracts, tender assessments, and performance management for thermal generation, solar, turbine, and battery storage projects.Provide technical expertise and governance throughout design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.Challenge designs to ensure the best technical and cost-effective solutions.Coordinate technical interfaces across EPC contractors, OEMs, consultancies, and authorities.Support due diligence on new investment opportunities.What we’re looking forStrong proven experience in Civil, Structural & Architectural engineering within capital asset projects (greenfield or brownfield).Expert knowledge in large-scale infrastructure design and construction, including codes and standards (IEC, EUROCODE, RIBA).Strong understanding of planning, statutory building requirements, groundworks, geotechnical assessments, and commercial building design.Experience managing abnormal load assessments and cross-discipline interfaces.Familiarity with contract types (FIDIC, NEC) and project management tools including risk analysis and controls.Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.Able to work independently and within a matrix organisation, managing deadlines and driving results.Experience in site feasibility assessments is a plus; knowledge of power markets is advantageous.Why should you apply?We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place.
