About Our Research RCSI recognises that excellence in research is critical to the quality of its educational activities, its credibility, and, overall, to its mission to enhance human health.

The RCSI Biobanking Service consists of two principal supports for the University: • A tissue biobanking service.
This service facilitates the collection of well-annotated fresh frozen and formalin-fixed tumour and normal breast, colon, prostate, skin, renal and other tissue samples.
This service facilitates research with collaborators in other institutions and a number of programmes and project grants from SFI, HRB, Wellcome Trust, HEA and the Irish Cancer Society.
• A Sample processing and storage service for blood, urine and saliva samples.
The biobanking service facilitates the SFI FutureNeuro Research Centre and a number of other grant funded activities from EI, HRB and HEA.
The successful candidate will form part of the team at the RCSI Biobanking Service, providing support to a large research community of clinicians and research personnel.
Specifically, the duties of the post are: • Populate and maintain relevant biobank databases and a specimen inventory system (Freezerworks software) for all biospecimens.
• Provide support for compliance with GDPR and Irish Health Research Regulations, including the drafting of data privacy impact assessments and assisting with data/material transfer agreements.
• Provide support with applications to ethics review committees.
• Perform biospecimen collection, processing, storage and distribution in a clinical and research environment according to Laboratory SOPs and standards.
• Implement a Quality Management System adhering to ISO *****.
